Kitchen help

A clearer next step.

Start with the measurement on the original recipe. These checks help you resolve the most common differences without losing your work.

Scale a recipe in three steps

  1. Paste one ingredient per line in the recipe scaler. Fractions such as ½ or 1 1/2 are accepted.
  2. Set the original and wanted servings. Eight servings to twelve gives a multiplier of 1.5.
  3. Review flagged lines, then save or export the result. A cooking time is not an ingredient and should not be multiplied automatically.

Why is a line marked for review?

A range, package size, unfamiliar unit or ambiguous preparation needs your judgement. Use Edit beside the line, write one clear quantity and unit, then Apply. “2 oz” is ambiguous; “2 oz wt butter” explicitly means weight. If a cup-to-gram reference is missing, the original unit remains on the card rather than receiving a guessed density.

Why do two cups give different gram weights?

A cup measures volume. In the curated references, one US cup of lightly measured all-purpose flour is approximately 120 g while one US cup of granulated sugar is approximately 198 g. A 250 mL metric cup also differs from a 236.588 mL US customary cup. Choose cup and spoon standards separately in the ingredient converter.

What should I do with half an egg?

Keep the fraction. Beat the egg, then weigh the required fraction of its actual shell-free contents. Regional egg sizes differ, so the tool does not replace every egg with a fixed weight.

Can I change pans and scale the recipe together?

Yes. In the pan converter, enter the inside dimensions and pan counts, then choose the intended batter depth. Use this factor in my recipe transfers the multiplier and its notes to the scaler. Leave room for the batter to rise. This does not determine a new baking time.

Why is 180°C shown as 356°F?

That is the exact temperature conversion. A 350°F dial setting is a separate practical rounding. Fan adjustments are also separate: reducing by 20°C is a 36°F change, not 25°F. Check your oven’s manual before applying an adjustment twice.

Why is a nutrient “Not reported”?

The selected USDA record has no value for that nutrient. Missing is not zero. Match the food’s raw or cooked state and use edible weight. These are reference estimates, not a personalised diet plan or a current label for every product.

Where are my saved recipes?

Saved recipes belong to this browser and this site address. Private browsing, clearing site data, changing devices or moving from the preview address to the custom domain can make a shelf unavailable. Export a backup from Saved recipes before changing browsers or addresses. Restore it through Privacy & local data; valid recipes are merged.

Which export should I choose?

PDF creates a typeset kitchen card. HTML card embeds the logo and fonts and can be opened offline; it also preserves writing systems outside the PDF font using embedded script-appropriate fonts when supported, with browser fallback for other characters. Text is a plain-data alternative. Copy includes review notes. Browser Print controls its own paper size and headers; the direct PDF download has its own layout.

Check a result against its source

Open Original & calculation under an ingredient, or the source link beside a food result. Compare the original quantity, preparation, measurement standard and unrounded number. The measurement guide explains each method and links to its source.

Save a baking setup with costs

Choose your pans and use the multiplier in the recipe. Under the recipe card, enter each ingredient pack’s price, quantity and unit. A blank price stays unknown. The known subtotal and priced-line count make incomplete costing visible. Cost yield follows wanted servings unless you choose a separate yield, such as 2 loaves. Save baking setup stores those choices with the recipe. Open Saved recipes to rename, duplicate, delete or export a versioned backup. Cost PDF, HTML and text sheets are free.

Still need a hand?

Email TwoGrams at kout@me.com. Include the tool name, the measurement standard and a small example of what happened. You can also report a broken link or a source correction.

Do not share a private recipe or personal information merely to check a unit conversion. A small invented example is usually enough.
